Jennifer Hudson Joins VH1 Divas!
A bunch of bold-faced names have been added to the lineup of VH1 Divas (premiering Thursday, Sept. 17 at 9/8c). Check the press release below for details:
Jennifer Hudson’s breakout roll as “Effie” in the Academy Award® winning hit Dreamgirls garnered her every major acting award, but it was her powerful vocal abilities that first won her acclaim. On her self-titled debut album, Jennifer received four Grammy® nominations and won for Best R&B Album. VH1 viewers will now get a chance to hear Jennifer sing live at the VH1 Divas concert which will be televised live on VH1 on Thursday, September 17 at 9:00pm.
Special musical guests for the show include Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Cyndi Lauper and Martina McBride. Kathy Griffin, Toni Braxton, Ryan Kwanten, Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port and the cast of MGM Film Fame (Asher Book, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Kherington Payne, Naturi Naughton, and Walter Perez) have all joined the VH1 Divas show as presenters for the evening.

Paula Abdul is set to host the VH1 Divas live concert event. Previously announced Divas include Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks and Miley Cyrus.
For the first time ever, these leading ladies at the top of their musical game will perform together live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York. Continuing in true Divas tradition, the evening will feature a night of unforgettable performances from various performers, presenters and special guests.
Fans can go now to Divas.VH1.com to submit a “Diva Stories” text or video testimonial that tells the world how their favorite divas have influenced their lives. VH1 wants to hear from all Divas’ fans – favorite songs, favorite moments and the craziest things they’ve done to show their diva how they feel. Very good divas with great voices(Jennifer Hudson,Leona Lewis,Adele,Jordin Sparks,Kelly Clarkson)but i am sooo angry that Christina Aguilera never been on Divas Live!!! Christina is a Diva and has a beautiful and great voice and never been invited by Divas Live and this year again VH1 forget Christina!!! And she’s worldfamous and longer in the musicbuisness than all the woman that are invited this year!!!!! I can not believe it!!!! Christina is one of the best vocalists in the world!!!

Thank you Vh1. This is an exciting new direction for these concerts, and even if you picked (let’s be frank) non-divas this year to headline, you’ve got some talented female singers. Few can write songs like Kelly, Adele, and Miley, and Jordin, Jennifer, Kelly, and Leona can blow most of your former divas out of the water vocally. And having Martina (finally!), Sheryl, Melissa, and Cyndi (yay!) joining in the festivities musically is just as awesome, though some will complain that they’re the guests and these ingenues are the headliners. As long as Leona sings Happy AND Bleeding Love and the other chicks just open their mouths and sang ANYthing, I’m gonna have a phenomenal time watching this years show. And maybe next year we can get Toni to sing?

I am so glad Jennifer Hudson is back. Congratulations Jennifer. Jennifer has one of the best voices I have ever heard. That is why she has won a grammy for her first album, and many more to come. Blow them away Jennifer. I dont care how they try to categorize you.

I REALLY FEEL THAT TONI BRAXTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE DIVAS THIS YEAR FOR THE SHOW BUT SINCE NOT THIS YEAR PLEASE HAVE HER ON FOR 2010 DIVAS.. I LOVE TONI AND IM HAPPY SHE WILL BE APPEARING ON THE SHOW. CAN’T WAIT FOR HER ALBUM AND SINGLE TO DROP BECAUSE I KNOW TONI IS COMING BACK STRONG AND SHE’S A REAL TRUE DEFINITION OF A DIVA….

I think Jennifer will go down in history as one of the greatest! She gives 100 percent to everything she does… I’m really happy to see that she has been added to show. I would like to wish her all the best with her son… and my prays continuw to go out to her for being so strong through a tough time in her life. As most people would have given up, she kept right on going… Way to go Jennifer may God continue to bless you and keep you strong!

I am very pleased o hear that Jenn Hudson will be performing this year. However, I am not so pleased with Toni only being a presenter, SHES A DIVA! Also, for 2010, a great line- up should be Whitney Houston (her new album is fire), Deborah Cox (her acknowledgement is well over due), Keyshia Cole (shes paving ways), Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, Faith Evans, Pink, Britney S., and I think another invite should be extended to Christina Aguilera. Now that would be a show! Oh and a few potential presenters could be Taraji Henson, Gabrielle Union, Tamala Jones, Meagan Fox, Meagan Good, JoJo (female singer), just to name a few.
