Jennifer Lopez has always impressed us with how short she hems her skirts, how deep she plunges her necklines and the creative uses of double-sided tape she employs to reduce boob-spillage. But who knew she would blow our minds while wearing an outfit that covered 99% of her body?
While we sat at home on New Years Eve (in yoga pants) watching Ryan Seacrest and his dropping ball, we noticed that Lopez, who performed that night in Times Square, was dressed in a shiny bodysuit and Cousin It-inspired fuzzy coat. It might have been the champagne, but we had to stare deeply into that bodysuit to figure out that she was not actually naked. For a mother of two she looks amazing, and we think it’s great that she’s finally embracing speed-skater chic. New trend in ‘10? [Photo: GettyImages]
We have a pact with our office mates regarding food in our teeth - if you see something, say something. No one wants to head into a meeting with poppy seeds in their front teeth. Seems like Nicole Kidman doesn’t have that pact with her co-workers. Kidman walked the red carpet at the New York premiere of Nine, which racked up 10 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards nominations, with powder all over her nose and under her eyes on Tuesday and there was nary a good friend nearby to tell her the truth about her face.
Now, if this were a younger, leggings-loving starlet we’d make the obvious cocaine joke, but Kidman is a class act and we’re sure that she was just trying to eliminate the sheen created by hundreds of flashbulbs shining on her delicate features. This is why it’s essential to travel to the bathroom in packs, ladies. We have to look out for one another because even the statuesque, impossibly thin, gorgeous ones occasionally go astray. If you can stomach ten minutes of Sean Combs discussing the plush, luxe softness of his $60 bathrobes on the Home Shopping Network, have we got a clip for you. Sean-P-Puff-Diddy-Daddy-Combs is now shilling his lifestyle products on the network, and you know what? He’s really good at it.
Combs broke HSN records by selling out his Sean John fragrances, travel kits and robes in 15 minutes, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue. Not only did Combs succeed in selling his wares, he also doled out bits of inspiration - no purchase necessary. After discussing his work ethic and an anecdote about working in a Mexican restaurant, he told his bathrobe-buying fans, “You can do anything you put your mind to.” And to that, his co-host admitted that that he inspired her “to want to be a better, more passionate person.”
Lady Gagawill appear on the cover of the January 2010 issue of Elle magazine and as always, the interview inside is as good as the picture on the cover. Looking like a cross between Gaultier-clad Madonna and Debbie Harry, Gaga looks gorgeous but not too revealing, and explains to the mag that she tried to tone down the sexy as much as she can.
“My album covers are not sexual at all, which was an issue at my record label. I fought for months, and I cried at meetings. They didn’t think the photos were commercial enough…The last thing a young woman needs is another picture of a sexy pop star writhing in sand, covered in grease, touching herself.” Take notes, Heidi Montag!
We love this woman so much for having an insane image and then proving herself to be as normal as can be and wanting to set a good, if often pants-less, example. She also says that she plans to settle down eventually. “In eight to 10 years, I want to have babies for my Dad to hold, grandkids. And I want to have a husband who loves and supports me, just the way anyone else does. I would never leave my career for a man right now, and I would never follow a man around.” Portions of the interview and photos from the cover shoot are online now at Elle.com.
M is for Miley, slit to the knee, K is for Kelly, grinning with glee. Here we have two young VH1 Divas dressed in black, but their looks could not be more different, with young Miley Cyrus doing the mullet dress (short in front, long in back) and Kelly Clarkson looking as amazing as she ever has in a mature, gorgeous black assymetrical number. These women are both playing up our assets and we can’t even find anything to snark about, they look perfect to us. Who looks better? You be the judge.
It’s TV personality against TV personality, Kathie vs. Kathy. Both Kathie Lee Gifford and Kathy Griffin attended our Divas show and were visions in white. We’re actually impressed on a regular basis with how well-styled Kathy Griffin has become and we think this look is great on her. Kathie Lee looks about par for the course - dressing for the occasion in a getup our mom would like. Both are missing their best accessories, though: Kathie Lee needs more Hoda and Kathy needs assistants Tom and Tiffany to round things out. [Photos: Getty Images]
Hm, it’s hard to decide if we prefer the Real Housewife from Atlanta or New York more here. (And by “prefer” we mean “are less offended by”.) In one corner, we have Bethenny Frankel representing the Diva’s hometown of New York, and in the other we have Kim Zolciak representing the ATL. While most other attendees opted for demure, these two definitely didn’t. Is Bethenny’s busy black and white look too much, or is it tame compared to Kim’s hot pink bubble dress?
Let’s discuss for a moment the similarities between Paula Abdul and Ellen Degeneres. They both love to dance. They’re both capable TV hosts, as Paula has made obvious tonight during her stint as the VH1 Divas emcee. And of course they are both members of the exclusive club known as the American Idol judges. But if you assume Ellen is the only funny one, we’d just like to point to this moment during Divas to say au contraire.
We love Paula even more for being able to laugh at herself and the entire Idol judges situation of late. Paula, dressed in a blazer and sneakers and dancing in true Ellen fashion, wished her successor the best of luck in the new gig and even offered up a sympathetic ear if Simon proves to be too much for her. Our fingers are crossed that Ellen dresses as Paula on her talk show tomorrow to continue the gag.
Man, do these gals clean up nice. American Idol alums Jordin Sparks and Jennifer Hudson arrived early on the scene at tonight’s VH1 Divas concert and they both had a gorgeous shine going on. We are loving Jordin’s dress with a passion, but we think Jennifer - who gave birth only a month ago - looks pretty killer in this black and silver number, too. Which diva hits a higher note for you?
La Lohan never ceases to amaze us. Yesterday we reported that she and Taylor Momsen were getting chummy at a fashion show earlier this week, and now comes the rumor that when Lindsay showed up to the G-Star runway show with her sister Ali and some pals, she actually tried to move Momsen’s seating card to accommodate her own crew. Not such good pals anymore, it seems. She also started tossing around the seating cards of Juliette Lewis and Christian Siriano, until the event producers tried to stop her, at which point she yelled at them “Don’t f*cking touch me!”. Lohan also allegedly put up a fuss when she had to pose for pictures and chat with the press ’cause that’s, like, work and stuff. [Source: NY Post; Photo: Getty Images]
