When we first saw the photos of Jessica Alba arriving with hubby Cash Warren to last night’s Global Green USA Pre-Oscar party, we felt both confusion and déjà vu. Confusion as to why nominated-for-nothing-but-a-Razzie Alba was at an Oscar-associated event, and déjà vu in regards to her cute, but familiar, ensemble.

After a minute of racking our mental red carpet archives, we recalled that Avatar’s Zoe Saldana wore a very similar, though not identical, dress to the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards two months ago. Both actresses looked gorgeous in their respective draped cream dresses tied together with a black belt, but who looked hotter? 

Rom-com fluff fest Valentine’s Day made its British debut today, with much less of a turnout than Hollywood’s star-packed premiere earlier this week. Jessica Alba and co-star Ashton Kutcher hopped the pond, along with Emma Roberts and Demi Moore.

Alba’s been in a red carpet rut lately, and her streak continued in foggy Londontown with some atrocious footwear. We hate the peep-toe, laced-up, bright blue booties. Their clunkiness paired with the opaque black tights makes her ensemble unbalanced and overpowers the otherwise cute, playful dress. We’re wishing she had gone with some understated round-toe pumps. While Valentine’s Day looks like little more than a well-timed fluffy date movie, its cast is nothing short of all-star. Leading ladies Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, and Jessica Alba were amidst last night’s star-studded premiere in Hollywood. Though all four actresses have a hard time looking less-than-gorgeous, their red carpet garb was hit-and-miss. While Hathaway dazzled in a mini blue number, the other ladies left us bored and/or horrified. Poor J-Biel evoked candy cane dreams in her frilly disaster of a dress. Alba looked okay from the shoulders down, but her mop was in dire need of a blowout. Jen Garner’s body was bangin’ in a form-fitting strapless frock, but she could’ve chosen something less snooze-inducing. Whose Valentine look do you love?

While we appreciate Jessica Alba’s attempt to uglify herself as a way to connect with the rest of us mediocre looking Americans, we were still horrified by her hair-tastrophe at the Valentine’s Day premiere last night. Jessica is hot - so she should just be hot at all times. Instead she showed up looking like she had let her hair air dry by hanging her head out the window of a moving car - without any products in it. The horror! Her bangs were all up in her face, her style was flat, and her army of fly-aways will haunt us in our nightmares for years.

So what do you think - do you like Jessica’s shaggy, sloppy style, or do you miss her longer, sleeker look?

We always  thought  that our habit of scavenging cool stuff from the sidewalks or off Craigslist was just because we like the  thrill of the hunt and because we’re desperately cheap. Turns out we’re  actually doing it because it’s cool and everyone in Hollywood is doing it too.

First there was Angelina Jolie, who showed up to the premiere of A Might Heart wearing a $26 vintage dress. That was forever ago, but more recently Demi Moore was spotted at the Pasadena Flea Market combing the aisles looking for a special something - at the end of the day, she went home with a vintage stuffed monkey toy. Ok, so maybe there’s a difference between shopping “vintage” and shopped “used”, but celebs are doing that, too! In the new issue of Self magazine, Jessica Alba admits that most of her home furnishings are used. Says the actress “I’ve bought 70 percent of my house off CraigsList! I’ve found so many things: couches, tables, lamps. I love the idea of recycling furniture and there being a history there.” We love that she’s as thrifty (and green) as we are! Horrific fashion was abound at Spike TV’s Scream Awards over the weekend, and two traditionally tantalizing ladies let us down. Jessica Alba looked sad in a conservative metallic number while Megan Fox’s attempt at retro in red came off frumpy and forgettable. Both their ensembles and facial expressions were less than enthused, but who looked more miserable?

Other fashion disasters included Eliza Dushku’s unflattering sequined frock, Christina Ricci’s boring black satin tunic, and Jaime King’s ill-fitting patchwork dress with wacky hair. Fads may come and go, but denim’s popularity never dies. This fall, denim trends include everything from the rolled and relaxed look (favored by stars like Halle Berry) to the super skinny pant (Lauren Conrad and Jessica Alba) to jean jackets in every shade. Experiment with an acid-washed mini one day and cut-off jean shorts the next. If you can dream it, denim can do it.

Yikes! Jessica Alba normally looks like she has the sort of deft stylish touch that’s made Kate Moss into an icon (see above for her past fashion hits), but we’re really not sure what she’s trying to do here. Aside from the ill-advised love-in with a bottle of peroxide (although we’re hoping that’s for a role) the knee-length dress looks like something our moms would have made us wear to look “smart” at a family gathering when we were 13, and the shoes also scream “sensible!” And once we’ve gathered ourselves, we’re then assaulted by the terrible, terrible wrongness of her scallop-edged shiny leather jacket. Normal service has finally been resumed, and Megan Fox is able to take up her position as the OFFICIAL sexiest women in the world. The sensible readers of U.S. FHM have put that strange aberration in the U.K. version behind us — which saw Cheryl Cole beat out Megan to the number one spot — and returned Megan to her rightful spot at the top of foxy ladies. Jessica Alba took the number two spot and Scarlett Johansson landed at third. (See full results here.)
