Lady Gaga touched down in Australia today rocking a look straight from the “Telephone” set. She greeted fans at the Sydney airport with Diet Coke cans in her hair and Chanel shades over her eyes. Logistically she must have had her hair done mid-air, as there’s no way she got that ‘do through airport security. Gaga is never one to shy away from outrageous outfits while flying, but is this look too much, or just her version of travel chic? [Photo: Splash News]
Lady Gaga showed off her latest fashion casserole outside of the Buddha Bar in London last night, having pre-recorded a performance for the Jonathan Ross show earlier in the day. We’re not sure what to make of this one: the metal frame is a skirt, yeah, but the wire fencing coming out of her radio antenna headgear? The jacket over the underwear? This just seems sloppy compared to Gaga’s lobster mask last weekend. Now that was a concept.
Lady Gaga wore over 100 hot outfits in 2009, and 2010 is looking to be just as wild. For all the nun habits and mossy monstrosities worn at her concerts in London this weekend, Gaga looked just as outrageous stepping in and out of her hotel. Among our favorites were Friday’s red and black RoboMountie one-piece, the lobster mask she wore to her afterparty at Mr. Chow (glad guest Bruce Springsteen—you read that correctly—was around to enjoy it) and the fringe-festooned golden dress she wore Saturday, suggesting she could always settle for simple glamor if she ever gets tired of the au courant insanity. Not that she is, judging from the black lace we-don’t-know-what she wore to the Mac Viva Glam launch earlier today. See these looks and shots from the concert in the gallery below.
Lady Gaga is getting set to launch her own clothing line and rumor has it, she’ll be teaming up with the one and only Donatella Versace. Is this just a rumor or will we really have the opportunity to wear Gaga by Versace in the coming months? One can only hope!
Today our great country was kind enough to ship two of our nuttiest celebrities - Lady Gaga and Courtney Love - across the pond to join the bizarre fashion parade led by Lily Allen and Leona Lewis at the Brit Awards. Wearing what we hope is a wig, Allen looked matronly donning a dickey made of fabric that’d be better suited for a sofa. Lewis was out-of-her-league edgy in a slick silver number with an artsy, oversized shoulder. A vacant-eyed Courtney Love roamed the red carpet in what would have been a pretty dress, had she not paired it with part of a dress shirt embroidered with nude women, and crafty floral necklace. Sigh.
Just as Lady Gaga’s international fame continues to reach new heights, so does the outrageousness of her hairstyles. A year ago, the Gagster debuted her now-trademark blonde hair bow. Apparently she has since poured water on it, causing it to multiply mogwai-style, or so goes our theory. Easily spotted leaving her London hotel this afternoon, Gaga’s mound of lavender, white, and platinum blonde bows topped off her leopard print ensemble and fringed Chanel sunglasses. Here’s hoping it was a rare, sunny day in foggy Londontown and this Gremlin of a hairdo melted into puddle of polyester. [Photos: Getty Images]
The no-pants fad. First started by an improv group who took to riding the subway sans-trousers in New York to make people laugh/squirm. Co-opted by Lady Gaga somewhere in 2009 as a daring - but breezy - fashion statement. And now a full-blown trend, judging by Ke$ha’s bottomless appearance at Fashion Week. When will it end? Presumably when someone sits on a splintery park bench, but we can’t be sure.
Ke$ha dropped in at the Erin Wasson show yesterday in a getup vaguely resembling some of Lady Gaga’s earlier looks, complete with leopard-print underthings and fishnets. (No better time like the day after a blizzard to test your legs’ tolerance for frostbite, that’s what we always say.) So is Ke$ha ripping off Gaga’s look? Judge for yourself. [Photos: Getty Images]
Lady Gaga lets her “little monsters” get under her skin.
Say what you want about her wardrobe, her personal life, her unsightly bruises…but you can’t argue that Lady Gaga is not an artist for her fans. People love her because she never lets the negative buzz get in the way of her devotion to her followers, and now she’s proving her love for her “little monsters” by inking them on her bod for eternity. We have a photo.
Lady Gaga never bores on the fashion front. The outrageous pop star du jour showed up to the 2010 Grammy Awards in a custom-made Giorgio Armani Prive gown, glittery gravity-defying heels, and what appears to be a yellow wig. Rumored to be opening the show with Elton John, we’re dying to see what she’ll wear on stage. We expect nothing less than flames, blood, and alien-inspired leotards.
Nominated for five Grammys, Gaga has already won two tonight; Best Electronic/Dance Album for “The Fame” and Best Dance Recording for “Poker Face.” Earlier today she tweeted “We won two grammy’s already little monsters + I dedicate them to u!” [Photos: Getty Images]
Lady Gaga has met her rival in Sweden’s Karin Dreijer, singer from The Knife and Fever Ray. Even if you’ve never heard of Karin you’ve probably heard her music - she sings that catchy song “Heartbeats” that everyone went crazy for a few years ago. Karin went up at a recent Swedish awards show to accept her prize in a get-up that - while similar to some of Lady Gaga’s outfits, like the all-red outfit she wore at the VMAs - looked like a blood-red KKK cloak. But the real ‘oh sh*t!’ moment occurred when she pulled off her mask to reveal a face covered in dripping silly putty. Her speech consisted of a couple of moans, because, you know, her mouth was melded shut by the stuff and she couldn’t really speak.
GaGa may wear weird things, but you better believe she always looks hot while doing so. She’s the weird alternative girl you knew in high school that managed to make her indie outfits sexy enough to turn everyone on. Karin doesn’t give a crap if you want to do her - she’s more interested in scaring the hell out of you instead (which is kinda sexy, if you’re into faces that are covered with tiny, melting octupus tentacles).
To compare them to another American-Swedish face-off: Gaga is Twilight, while Karin is Let The Right One In - darker and weirder, but so much better.
